Better Seat?

OK, so the seat is no more comfy than my DR650. I realized this 25 miles into last weekend's ride. I see there's a Power Sport edition from KTM (Which I have on the Super Duke R and is marginally more comfy, but looks nice and grips). I see Seat Concepts has an offering as well, but that too was only marginally better than stock on the DR. Any suggestions????????????

That's exactly what I've read, just "marginally better".
I've had several 5+ hour days in the saddle with no complaints, a few times two-up. However, on those days I typically mix gravel in with tarmac so I'm standing some as well which relieves a lot of pressure. So with that, I just can't justify paying for a new seat. Maybe give it while and see if it breaks in some??
My experience with the Seat Concepts replacement is about as good as you could expect from an off road motorcycle seat, its not going to be like a Russel Day Long on a road bike.
I got out with it for the first time yesterday on a 200 mile mostly road ride and found it to be substantially more comfortable than the stock seat.
Previous rides with the stock seat left me uncomfortable after two hours while the Seat Concepts let me go six hours with no discomfort.
The seat doesn't constrain you to one position as the stock seat does due to shape and the padding is more comfortable.
I purchased their tall/ comfort seat which may be different from others who have provided a review.
Good Luck!

Thanks! I see there are a few options. What about the Sport Touring seat? Is that pretty useless for off roading as opposed to the one you got?

Is this 1 pc the one you got?

The seat I got is the "Tall Comfort" model, not the Adventure Tall. My off roading on the seat is limited to some dirt roads and I didn't have any issues. I don't see myself doing any aggressive single track/ woods riding on the 1090- I'll take a smaller bike if that's the plan.

Thanks. I just ordered mine!
Looking forward to your impressions.
I'll be sure to post them. They said it may be close to 3 weeks before it's shipped as this is their busy season. Hopefully not, but not much I can do about it other than wait my turn and hope it's sooner than that.

....Ugh...I hate waiting.

Now that you've got me looking at them (again) more, I want one. :nerd:
They shipped it the other day and it will arrive tomorrow.... Unfortunately it'll be a stormy day, but I can get an initial impression to report back with. I'm also planning a couple hundred mile scoot this weekend so I'll give my better educated impressions then as well.
The seat arrived and is definitely taller, but plusher too. It looks very nice as well. I have a 34" inseam and am now on tip toes when sitting on the bike. 1 thing about being a little higher is that my body's position is elevated and therefore, I'm afforded a little more leverage on the bars which should be advantageous for hooligan stuff, off roading, etc. Full report coming after Sunday's ride, but so far, so great!
I rode 120 miles today and it's a HUGE improvement. The bike is now silly tall and with my 34" inseam, I'm on tip toes... I'm fine with that though. Towards the end, my a$$ wanted to take a break, but overall, a great improvement that will get plusher in time.
Hmmm, I feel almost like a ballerina now, I don't have much tippy toe left.
I’m going to jump in and give my 2 cents worth. First, it is good to see a conversation about going with a tall seat. I see too many conversations where they are trying to lower the bike/seat for their short legs, or complaining that this bike or that bike is too tall and they need to make shorter bikes. I purchased the seat concepts tall comfort seat in October of 2018 right after purchasing my 1090. I have a 35” inseam. I found the seat concepts is a little more comfortable than stock partly because it is flat and gives you more room to slide around. It is also easier and takes less effort to stand up from a sitting position. The seat still quite hard and has taken a bit of getting used to. For long rides I add an air hawk seat cushion over the top which then gives me all day comfort. The air hawk comes off when I do dirt. At first I switched between the two as I was getting used to the taller seat and the motorcycle in off-road situations. That tall seat gives me a better idea for what short people who can’t reach the ground go through while riding since I am not quite flat footed with the tall seat. The seat concepts was a good investment and stays on my bike most of the time. The stock seat goes back on when my wife and I do two up riding to give her a little more elevation.
