Capetonian in the Bavarian Alps

Been itching to buy a bike since I was a kid.
Decided the bucket list is not going clear itself, so I am finally in the process of doing my A license at the tender age of 47.
Bought a 1090 Adventure for € 9k 2 weeks back and am rearing to get riding.
The bike is in great shape, 1 previous owner, 14k km, all the services done by the original dealer (official KTM;Husky;Beta...) it was bought from and who in turn sold it to me.
I live in the perfect place for touring and am planning to spend loads of time exploring the Alps and surroundings on this beastie.
Any advice regarding top-cases and luggage in general would be most welcome, as I will be needing to invest in some mobile storage space and would rather buy something decent which will last. (Quite keen on the Touratech Aluminium cases)
Also want to get an engine protection cage, just not sure of which brand to go for yet.
Starting next spring, I plan to head down to Romania and do some easy offroad touring with some friends, so if anyone can recommend a set of tires which will be good on asphalt, but also suited to gravel, please let me know.
If there are any riding groups in my area, it would be great to have some riding companions around here.
