My Australian delivered 2017 Adventure R has a factory low mounted steering damper (not sure if all countries get it) that may not be doing its job any more. At 8000kms since new, I'm getting head shake that I hadn't noticed before over uneven dirt roads at speeds of 80-100kph when it used to be very stable. Just noticed its rubber mount seems soft, but not sure if that is enough. Anyone have a problem similar to mine? The damper has a circlip on one end at the seal so is rebuildable I assume.

That steering damper is being replaced under warranty. It was actually leaking, but wasn't obvious until it sat on my office desk for a few days & I noticed the shaft was wet. Pushing it through its stroke & air can be heard in there too. I'm hoping the replacement will solve the head shake I was getting, or I need to go to a top mounted adjustable unit like the Scott's ones. They are almost $1000AUD though. I asked if a shock specialist could rebuild it & use a heavier oil to "slow it down" to be told no-one in Australia can do that!!!
