On Thursday march 1 I just added a 1090 to my garage to join my Triumph rocket 3 roadster. I have been riding my whole life and used to compete in enduros in South Africa on a 400 KTM two stroke as far back as 1980 but haven't ridden off-road in looooong while. Itching to get back into it and really happy to have found an online home to belong to. Thanks for having me.

Welcome to the forum!

Glad to have a loyal KTM rider on the forum. How do you like how KTM has progressed over the years?
Back 1978 KTM was the new kid challenging Husqvarna for bragging rights. In the USA I think ( not sure) they were also sold as Penton? I rode a Husky 400 WR in the Roof of Africa one year and tried it on a Big honking White KTM 2 stroke 400 GS another. They were both ridiculous machines that would spit you off for the slightest throttle or clutch infraction, but the KTM was particularly brutal. Just raw and loud and frankly a bit scary to ride but it was virtually unbeatable. I haven't had much time aboard my new 1090 but other than the obvious - super high seat, much higher weight and awesome suspension it seems a lot more refined than the 400 of old but I can feel the savagery just below the surface if you want to go there. Cant wait to try it out.
I attached a picture of the same 70's era 400 enduro- I used to ride. Dont have one of my exact one unfortunately. Actually wish I'd kept it

Welcome to the forum Allan, congrats on the new 1090. Don’t know if you’ve heard but it looks like KTM is getting back into 2 strokes, at least on their smaller cc bikes to start. Let us know what you think of the new ADV bike once you put some mileage on it. From your background I’m assuming you’re going put it through the paces off road aha.
