Just registered on the site. I grew up in WV starting out with a Honda 5o when I was 5. Moved on to a trail 70 then a Suzuki RM125. Owned a Yamaha WR250F that was a lot of fun when I worked in Idaho using it to get me to high mountain lakes to fly fish. The Kawasaki KLR 650 was a good start to adventure riding around WV and the Appalachians. Sold it a few years back. Am now looking at a 1090 Adventure R to keep in WV so I can ride when I visit for a few months a year, live in Alaska now. I have seen good reviews but what is the real world review and problems with the bike if any? Look forward to this forum and conversations.

Have you had the chance to sit on an 1090 with any of the motorcycle shows that past or at any of your local dealers?

Hey mtnhiker, welcome to the forum. Seeing as how the 1090 was nominated to be one of the best adventure bikes of 2017, its safe to say that it’s earned its merits. There are some who would suggest that the 1090 is simply a 1190 with a different sticker kit however. Most issues that owners have encountered we're replaced under factory warranty. What’s prompted the switch to KTM?
