Now I get a bit closer to the unfamiliar sounds of the engine. Switchen on the ignition the bike normally sets the controlles and the pump starts up. Now the shhhhh sounds does not stop while the ignition is on. I am by far no expert at this but it seems to me that this might be a defective fuelpump. If anyone recognizes this please respond for I have to confront the dealer with this the day after tomorrow.

Hi Johannes,

I have just bought my first KTM 1090 R.It does exactly the same and when I told my dealer he said it was 150% normal to all the KTM range.
Hope this helps
I went to my dealer. To the first problem (the hissing sound) he said that this is due to the unusual hot weather in the Netherlands right now. As the problem does not occur everytime I will wait till the weather gets colder heren. Right now it is 30 + celcius. The other problem was probably a dry and filthy chain that made strNge noises t low speed. He lubricated the chain and indeed the noise was less or virtually gone. I will follow this too. Thanks for your replies so far.

Based off what your describing, its the sounds of the throttle bodies, the drive by wire system uses servos to actuate the butterflies and they always make a squelching noise when not in use. If you hit the kill switch with just the key on it should stop.

Maybe your describing a different noise, not sure.

Hi All. Bought a 1090 S. Bought it secondhand with 6000km on the clock. I was worried about the Hissing sound after installing the 12volt jack. Glad to hear it is normal because it was the first time i noticed the sound. Thought it was a rattler in my bike.
