1190's act as a great point of reference for us future 1090 guys and one key thing to pull from it that relates here is exhaust. There are reportedly very slight changes from the 1190 to 1090. Great news if you were happy with that system which most were.

If you had experience with the 1190, share that experience here, thanks!

Are you curious about what the exhaust sounds like between the models or if there's a slight performance difference?
There definitely will be a performance difference. The 1190 comes with 148hp whereas the 1090 comes with 125hp. There will of course be a difference in exhaust sound as well. Reading through the UK forums and what not, the better comparison to make would be between the 1050 and the 1090 as they use the same 1050cc. Did manage to get an opinion from someone that has ridden both though:

Well... with that there, who's thinking about going with a used 1190. That fellow seemed to be pretty determined on his decision that the 1090 isn't worth it.

I always favored going used primarily because with a product out for so long we have some real history on it, which feeds right into my confidence as a potential owner. The last thing I want to be doing is spending more time off the road.

So at this point are you going to be looking toward going the used 1190 route ? Of course it would be better to test ride them both and see what numbers you can work out but generally speaking, do you think it's a high chance?
Its high on my list right now, on par with a '14 Multistrada i'm looking at. Many options these days so it hard to choose and when you get to bikes like these, often there are lots of micro things to consider, all the nuances, features, owner/rider feedback, etc.
I know what you mean.. the only way to really find out at this point is to just get out there and try as many of them as you possibly can and feel it out. Especially when looking into the used market too, you can save a lot of money and utilize it towards mods you would have done anyways to get the bike to feel more right.

Correct and that's just cost.

Time is the other part for me, I would hate being one of the first to figure and troubleshoot things, buying an older bike people have done that already and the information is online. Seen all the trouble some new riders have gone through and its not fun. Patience is a must.
How many on this discussion group are now 1090 owners ?
My 1090r has a steering damper!! My friend has a orange 1190 adventure and a couple of the differences are that his has lacquer painted over the stickers and his also has a gold chain, the 1090r does not have these 2 features.
i have a 17 1090 and love it. no issues yet lots of fun times ahead
